Tower ($)

Build flexible strength and correct muscle imbalances as you add the resistance of wall unit springs to your own bodyweight in this 60 minute, small group Pilates session. You’ll love the variety and the results of this focused workout.

Tower is perfect for improving range-of-motion, helps to build long, lean muscles, and adds a greater challenge to your mat practice. The wall unit provides instant feedback helping you recognize when you’re out of alignment, making it a remarkable self assessment tool. The resistance created from the springs is essential to helping you master the specific classical Pilates exercises, which are designed to train the body’s “powerhouse”- the abdomen, lower back, hips, and glutes. Tower creates an extraordinary environment for developing mobility and strength of the hips and spine, and can be helpful if you have limited hamstring and/or lower-back flexibility. Invest in this small group training to improve flexibility, muscle engagement, and most importantly, posture. All levels welcome!

What you’re working

What to expect
You’ll love this non-intimidating, intimate training environment. Understand and appreciate how subtle adjustments can result in better movement patterns and graceful control of your body. The tower is a vertical apparatus that uses a variety of attachments (a roll-down bar, arm springs, leg springs, and a pull/push through bar) to provide a challenging, full body workout. The tower has many possibilities of spring tensions. The placement of the springs at many heights invites different fuller movements than other Pilates equipment. This class offers the opportunity to open the hips and lengthen the spine with a special emphasis on breathing to deepen each stretch. Many tower exercises focus on one area of the body at a time, making it easier to isolate and activate correctly. You’re guaranteed to leave feeling taller and lighter. Work in the Pilates Studio will positively improve all of your daily activities.

What to wear
Comfortable workout attire (nothing too loose) allowing the instructor to see your body alignment during work for proper correction. Please do not wear clothes with zippers or buttons on the backside as you will be moving while on your back. Your choice of bare feet or socks.
